Not every mountainis visible.
We all have mountains to climb.
SUMMIT is a student-led mental health nonprofit in Edmonton.
We’re students building the support we want for our own communities: peer support, workshops, and spaces in schools for students in Grades 7-12, starting with the schools that have the fewest resources. Asking for help should feel ordinary.
What guides us.
We build the conditions for students to support one another safely and consistently, with training, structure, and oversight.
Young people help shape and deliver our work, from programming to governance.
Every student deserves to be heard without judgment. We do not rank experiences or use clinical labels in non-clinical settings.
Our goal is free support for every student. We prioritize underserved schools and work to remove financial, cultural, and practical barriers.
Our approach draws on research in adolescent mental health and peer support. We aim to measure outcomes, share what we learn, and improve our programs.
We are building lasting school partnerships and support structures that continue beyond a single event or program cycle.
We advocate for stronger investment in school-based mental health support and a place for structured peer support in every school.
Our model includes clear confidentiality guidelines and disclosure protocols when someone is at risk. Students should understand those boundaries before speaking with a peer supporter.
No one should have to climb alone.
The climb is easier with someone beside you.
Three ways we’re working to bring support closer to students. All three are in development, designed to work alongside school counselling staff and to complement professional care.
Peer support
We’re preparing student volunteers to listen, respect boundaries, and connect their peers with support, with training, structure, and oversight.
Workshops
Student-led conversations about stress, academic pressure, supporting a friend, and finding help at school and nearby.
Spaces in schools
Quiet rooms, peer support drop-ins, and resource libraries, starting with the schools that have the fewest resources today.

SUMMIT began with students who saw a need around them. If you’d like to help build it with us, we’d love to hear from you.
